Anchors

Anchors

Safety item that helps you position, and then stay on the fish.

Dual purpose piece of kayak fishing gear that is just nice to have around.

  • Anchors can be a very important safety tool/accessory to assist kayak anglers.
  • Folding anchors are used to stop your momentum while drifting
  • The drift shoot is used to slow you down, and properly position your kayak in the current for more bites.

In general, our 1.5 lb anchor is used to hold the kayaks position during snorkeling and free diving. Anything over 3 lbs is sufficient to hold your position while kayak fishing. The drift shoot allows anglers to reduce their drift in windy and strong current conditions. Anchors are also used to position your kayak in the direction you want while fishing.

    Bait Tanks

    Bait Tanks

Having a bait-tank on your kayak enables you to serve your target fish its naturally sought after meal - a live bait. There are several types of bait tanks available for kayaks: bucket bait tanks, molded bait tanks and internal bait tanks. Bucket bait tanks are popular, because most kayaks have a built in spot for a 5 gallon bucket, and they are relatively inexpensive. The disadvantages of the bucket bait tank are a high CG (center of gravity) and they are usually positioned behind the angler. Some kayaks are able to adapt molded bait tanks into their standard hatches. The CG of a molded tank is lower than the bucket bait tank and for the most part are more secure on the kayak. The KayaTank is the only internal collapsible bait tank and offers a quieter operation, less drag, a sleeker look, and it eliminates the set-up time before launching in the morning. As for CG, some or even most of the water in the tank is below the waterline and acts as ballast for your kayak rather than an elevated tipping weight - so it actually increases the stability.

    Batteries and Battery Boxes

    Batteries and Battery Boxes

We've got the batteries you need to power any electronics on your kayak. We recommend the smaller 7 amp battery to power a fish finder and the larger 10 amp batteries to power multiple items. Our battery boxes are made out of waterproof Pelican Cases and are the cleanest and easiest way to keep your battery dry and protected.

    Dry Storage

    Dry Storage

Dry Bags, Pelican cases, water-proof boxes - everything you need while you're out there fishing to keep sensitive electronics out of touch with water.

We have a variety of dry bags and dry boxes available which are used to keep certain items secure and dry while out on your kayak. Dry bags come in a variety of sizes, from small to extra large. They are made out of water proof material and are very easy to use. For more fragile electronic equipment such as cell phones and iPods, kayak anglers sometimes prefer dry boxes which are designed specifically to hold these types of items in a more secure fashion.

    Kayak Covers and Storage

    Kayak Covers and Storage

Taking care of your kayak when not in use is the most important thing you can do to prolong the life of any plastic sit on top kayak. While the poly-ethylene material most kayaks are made of is very durable, it can be affected if not properly taken care of. If storing your kayak outside be sure to use a cover to protect it from UV rays that can cause the plastic to become brittle and develop cracks over time. Also be sure that your kayak is properly supported when in storage. If the kayak rests on straight crossbars for too long, the weight of the kayak can indent the hull, so a pair of stands or wall hangers will keep it looking good for years.

    Kayak Fishing Attire

    Kayak Fishing Attire

While fishing on the kayak, you find yourself in some cold early mornings or some serious mid-day heat.
Make sure your body is protected with clothing gear specially designed for this application. Kayak fishing attire falls into two categories: Neoprene and Non-Neoprene. The benefit of neoprene, or wetsuit material, is that it will keep you very warm in the event that you decide to go for a swim or wade in the water while launching. We do not recommend using a regular surf or dive suit because there isn't sufficient mobility in these suits for kayak fishing. Paddle johns are the neoprene suits that we recommend, they are sleeveless and provide the free range of motion needed for casting and paddling. The non-neoprene garments are made out of different materials, such as urethane coated denier, that make them water resistant and breathable. These lose fitting clothes can be layered for maximum comfort in changing conditions. It's a good idea for the underlayments to be made out of material that can wick the water and perspiration away from your body.

    Ocean Kayak

    Fishing Kayaks

We carry Hobie, Malibu and Ocean Kayaks.

Hobie Kayaks folks say “The World Is A Water Park, And Since 1950 We've Made The Best Rides.” They sure did bring live-fast, have-fun, adventure to the world. The biggest difference that Hobie Kayaks bring to the sport of kayaking are pedals. Each of Hobie Mirage models has a patented MirageDrive pedaling system. Its adjustable mechanism of a durable construction allows for “hands-free” experience, worm welcomed by many kayak anglers. For more information on Hobie kayaks check out the Hobie web site.

Malibu Kayaks are some of the finest fishing kayaks available, at very competitive prices. Each model is designed with fishing in mind, as evidenced by the amount of storage and layout of the cockpit areas which allows for easy mounting of any number of accessories. The weight capacity and stability of Malibu Kayaks is well known and with seven different models there's a kayak for any application and any budget. Visit Malibu Kayaks web site for more information.

While Ocean Kayak may not have invented the original sit-on-top kayak, they sure have perfected it. Innovation has been their mission since the launching of their first sit-on-top in 1971. Ocean Kayak was one of the first brands to start manufacturing and selling rotationally molded sit-on-top kayaks. Every Ocean Kayak is made with the finest linear, medium-density polyethylene, and has ultra-violet inhibitors blended in to help prevent the plastic from breaking down in the sun. Ocean Kayak has been a trusted name in kayak fishing since the beginning. Ocean Kayaks are superior in surf conditions and rough water. Visit the Ocean Kayak web site for detailed product information.

    Paddles

Your paddle is your motor, and it's a great item to upgrade if you're serious about kayak fishing. We warn you though, don't jump into a purchase until you're sure you've researched enough to find the right paddle for you. There's a lot to consider with blade shapes, materials, shaft lengths and feathering systems and some features may not be ideally suited to your paddling style, application, kayak model or body size. Check out our Paddle Guide article to help you make a proper selection.

    Roof Racks

    Roof Racks

A couple rack pads can go a long way to minimize vibration and protect your kayak while on top of your vehicle. We also offer a quick and easy removable soft rack system that will fit most 4 door sedans.

    Rudders

    Rudders

A rudder can help keep your kayak going straight in a cross wind so that you continue paddling one stroke on each side, rather than two on the left to each one on the right.

A rudder makes for a much more efficient and less fatiguing experience, especially on longer paddles.

    Kayak Safety First Aid

    Safety & First Aid

Let's face it - kayak fishing often involves exposure to some extreme conditions. Whether it is choppy or sloppy seas, stiff winds or wicked current, the nature may make a bold move and you may quickly find yourself in a situation that you better be prepared for.

From CG Approved Personal Flotation Devices, First Aid Kits, Flares to small things like whistles and flashlights that will keep you safe.

Safety is always the number one concern out on the water, especially being so exposed to the elements in a kayak. Be prepared and have the right first aid and safety gear on hand at all times. It may save your life, or someone else's.

    Seats Backrests

    Seats / Backrests

Your backside will thank you with a comfortable seat. Extend your fishing time by hours with enough padding and back support, or find a no-frills basic seat that will get the job done. We recommend plenty of inflatable or foam padding for kayak fishing since we're in a seated position for such long lengths of time.

    Apparel

    Spearfishing Gear

Kayaks are fast becoming the S.O.P. for spearfishing. The stability of kayaks these days make for a great diving platform. You don't have to swim out to your favorite fishing spot - you can paddle and save your energy for bottom time.

    Kayak Wheels

    Kayak Wheels

Any kayak over 30 or 40 pounds will require a wheel cart to move any kind of distance. Most of these wheel carts will break down so that they can be transported on the kayak with you. Take extra care if using the type with posts that stick through the scupper holes, as hitting rocks or curbs can cause damage to the scuppers of your kayak.
